Lots of news coming out of the Fight Capitol with the UFC Light Heavyweight Title fight with Dan Henderson and Jon Jones, I will be covering the fights for MMA2DAY radio from Florida as well as Knuxx.com…
I met Dan Henderson a couple years ago when I cornered Vernon Tiger White vs Lew Polley in San Diego, Dan was in Lews corner and yours truly was in Vernon’s corner. Dan is a calm cool and collected warrior to say the least, I will try and see if we can bug him for an interview since Lew won a close decision over Vernon!!!!
We have a film company chronicling 5 of our young DogBoxer fighters, – starting this week they will follow Dru Davis, Conner Shamrock, Briggs Foreman, Brian Lopez and Paige Van Zant. Dru and Briggs will be making their pro debuts September 29th here in Vegas, Conner will be making his amateur debut soon after, and Brian will be cutting down to 185 and have his pro debut sometime after the 1st of the year. Paige is 1-0-0 as a pro - is quite talented and has a promising career ahead of her. They will be putting clips on YouTube as the pilot is being made and put on the market. I’m excited for the young DogBoxers - this should be a great boost to their endeavors. We will be going to Australia November 16th for Bragging Rights 4 and Im expecting a match for Dave Mazany any day now…
Myself, Sidney Silva and Josh Boyd will be going to Corpus Christi, Texas to do a Jiu-Jitsu seminar for our very own Tommy Montoya. We are looking to pick Tommy a pro team to fight under the DogBoxer banner. We will be having some old school Lions Den tryouts and we will find out who REALLY wants to be a fighter. I dont think we can do tryouts the way Ken used to do them as they are pretty brutal, but the tryouts are harder than any fight they will ever have so they need to be sure they want to be fighters. Soa Palelei will be here for the fight September 1st as Dan Henderson’s guest. Soa is the Heavyweight champ of Australia and he will be training here in Vegas for a minute while he pursues his second UFC fight - so we look forward to seeing Soa here at home and look forward to him achieving his career goals.
Our own DogBoxer facility will be open September 1st and will have War World Wide and Gold Buckle as well as Fight Church under one roof. We will also be the Tiger Muay Thai affiliate here in Las Vegas and look forward to booking trips for fighters and fans alike right here from Vegas. We also look forward to making fights for the Tiger Muay Thai guys and having their trainers come here to train Vegas locals and offer these men to the gyms in town. We are looking to bring Rob Powdrill and Sam Blythe here from Australia after the K-OZ event on November 16th. Rob is a Muay Thai Champion in OZ and has been transitioning into MMA. Sam is the Australian Boxing Silver Medalist from the 2008 Olympics and is now doing MMA as well. We will be looking to fight them here in the USA as well as tighten up their transitions to MMA. Both are characters to say the least - they are both pretty punchy as only the Australians can be. I think the American fans will get a kick out of these guys. We will be having news from South Africa soon as well – stay tuned. – http://knuxx.com/nv/2012/08/knuxx-las-vegas-news/#more-375
